Westwood May Miss British Open
By kickntrue on 7/6/10
I think Lee Westwood is on the cusp of winning a major. While next week at the British Open seemed ideal- now it's looking less likely.
World number three Lee Westwood is struggling to be fit for next week’s 150th anniversary British Open at St Andrews.Bollocks! (Did I use that correctly?!) Every major should have all of the top players. I think we'd agree missing numbers 1 or 2 would be a bigger blow, but Westwood at 3 may have the best actual chance at winning at St. Andrews. He's been playing great golf recently and has contended in multiple recent majors. I would certainly bet him before Woods, I know that.
Hopefully he'll get the rest he needs and make it happen. Playing hurt may greatly reduce his chances of competing at a high level, but history has shown us what a Major induced endorphin boost can do for your golf game!
