Steve Stricker May Miss Presidents Cup By mustang6560 on 9/28/11
U.S. Captain Fred Couples might have overlooked Keegan Bradley for the final spot on the Presidents Cup, but he may get a chance to represent the United States of America on accord of Steve Stricker's injury.
Stricker's agent at IMG, Jon Heaton, said Wednesday that an MRI confirmed the neck injury. He says Stricker is not feeling any pain, although he is weak in his left arm. There is still a chance Steve will be deemed fit to play in the biennial event down under in November, but Freddie did not waste any time naming a replacement in the event Steve would not be able to play. The replacement? PGA Champ Keegan Bradley. I know it's not the ideal situation for Keegan, making the team as an alternative, but nobody remembers how each player made the roster. The only thing people remember is who wins and who was on the team when they won. Sure, in a perfect world he would have qualified for the event himself by finishing in the top 10 of the Presidents Cup ranking. But, at the end of the day it doesn't matter. Having the opportunity to represent your country is an unique opportunity that put you in the next level of great players. On the other side, I hope Steve recovers quickly from his injury. I'm not sure how long the recovery process is supposed to be but I hope he can bounce back quickly. If he is unable to play, the U.S. Team will surely miss his experience as he's played in four Presidents Cup ('96, '07 and '09) and we won all three. read more photo by Keith Allison [ comments ] no comments posted yet.
