SCOTT PIERCY WINS RBC CANADIAN OPEN

Scott Piercy defeated Robert Garrigus and William McGirt to win his second professional event Sunday at the RBC Canadian Open, which means he won't be able to defend his title at the Reno-Tahoe Open. But, I don't think the Las Vegas-native is too upset because he'll be competing in the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

With four straight birdies early in the final round to get into the mix, it was a simple par on the 18th hole that allowed Piercy to tie the oldest 72-hole scoring record on the PGA TOUR and outlast William McGirt and Robert Garrigus.

"I've been playing good for a while now, and you just need a couple of good breaks here or there," Piercy said. "I felt like I got a couple of good breaks and continued to play solid, and I'm kind of speechless. I'm really excited to be the champion."

Following the conclusion of play, Robert, who finished T2 with William, made a few interesting comments.

"I should have won this golf tournament by seven shots. Everybody knows that," said Garrigus, who finished a shot back of winner Scott Piercy. "If I could have just made a putt today. I don't know. It just wasn't starting on my lines. I hit a couple too firm and then I hit a couple too soft. I just couldn't get the feel for it."

If I didn't know any better, I'd say Robert was acting like a cry baby following his disappointing even-par 70 in the final round of the RBC Canadian Open. But, as they say, "C'est la vie".
