Lockwood Folly Country Club is a superbly conditioned, semi-private, member owned "hidden gem". The course is located at the confluence of the Intracoastal Waterway and the Lockwood Folly River, providing golfers with breathtaking vistas of tidal estuary, moss covered hard- woods and the solitude of nature. Tree lined, nonparallel fairways winding through hardwoods and pine afford a sense of seclusion while challanged with championship golf.

Our Willard Byrd masterful design drew 1988 nominations as a "Top 10 new course in North Carolina", and awarded in GOLF DIGEST 2000, 2002 and 2004 four star "Places to Play". Friendly staff (found the staff to be very courteous) and course is in good condition. Very pretty course with views of the Lockwood Folly River. Cooler on hot days than other inland couses. 18th hole, par 5, is a wonderful finishing hole with pond on the right, traps on the left and an uphill shot to the green. Looks out over the Lockwood Folly River. Only negative is I found the practice green to be much faster than the course greens. Also, more expensive than some surrounging courses.
