Originally called Cumberland Golf Course, this course was renamed in memory of the black American golfer (and Nashville native) Ted Rhodes (1913-1969) in August of 1969, a month after he passed away. The course opened in 1953 with nine holes; added the second nine in 1992, and is owned and operated by the City of Nashville.
