This is essentially TWO courses, as the front nine has little in common with the back nine. I don't know the history, but my suspicion is the back nine was added much later. The front nine is reasonably flat and old-school, but the back nine features fairly drastic elevation changes. The 18th green has an outstanding view of the Appomattox River -- a great reward at the end of a day of golf. Last time I was there, we saw a bald eagle catch a fish, and perch on the beach to eat it. Pretty cool.

Played with a worker who knew course. Rough was way too high and he even said so. It was probably 4-5 inches deep. Tee boxes were not cut and had crab grass. Greens were very, very, very slow. Course looked like you went out to play in your yard.

The course was in great shape given the stress of heat and drought conditions. The greens were well manicured and rolled true. Enjoyed my round.
