Formerly known as Squaw Creek GC, this course opened in 1968 near Squaw Creek Park, and while the design accomodates average golfers, better players may find challenges in the trees and hazards. Gardner GC has also earned "Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" status. The course was renamed in memory of long-time city parks commissioner Donald. K. Gardner in 1999, and is owned and operated by the City of Cedar Rapids.
