Yes, the hyphen in the name is intentional; the club is the result of a merger in February, 1899 of the Vesper Boat Club and Lowell Country Club.

Donald Ross was the original architect of this course, while in 2009 architect Brian Silva oversaw restoration of the bunkers and the greens, which were rebuilt to the USGA's tri-layer specification.
