It's a pretty course, with some nice views, and nice and quiet even with the railway line that runs along part of the border. It's a classically English countryside style of course.
It's well maintained too, certainly none of us had any reason to grumble about the course conditions although one green had a small area marked as GUR.
The two guys in front of us weren't exactly competent, for which I begrudge them nothing at all, but they were using a buggy which, when it's in use by two players who can't hit straight, slows them down quite a lot as the cart has to be zigzagged along each fairway. As a result we had to wait for them a few times. Still, it seems a little harsh to blame the venue for that but...
The staff were all very nice and helpful, especially the lady I was liaising in the preceding weeks with to book three time times for my group of nine.
The course itself is pretty tight. There are some open tee shots but mostly accuracy off the tee is paramount. Also, when we did miss the fairway and the light rough the ball was lost every time. The long grass and bushes here are brutal.
Otherwise the layout is pretty easy, very few significant elevation changes to deal with and no water hazards at all.
Ultimately though, it's a little bit of a dull course. Nice enough, but while there are a few dog legs the overall experience is of a course that just goes up and down with very few memorable holes.
So, I'm not going to recommend against it, but I can't rave about it either.
