On the course web site, Pete Dye is quoted as saying, "This is the best course I have ever built." Considering that Dye designed the famous TPC Sawgrass Stadium course, Harbour Town, the Ocean course at Kiawah Island, and Crooked Stick, this is a statement worth considering.

The course is one of two regulation-length courses, along with the 1993 Nicklaus-designed course, at Colleton River Plantation, a private luxury real estate development.
