Thanks for the add. I am still on active duty and have multiple deployements abroad. I have only played golf for 8 months and I am looking forwared to improving.
well after a total knee replacement on Oct 22 last year I am now ready for some golf. I see we have several new members, well come and Thank You for your service. Now it is time to see where my game is. Not expecting much, just glad to be golfing again.
Hello Brothers.... My name is Ed, US Army (1985-2005), wife is Active Duty stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. I work as a DoD Civilian employee for USASOC, I play on the Golf Channel AmTour, all my scores are from GCAT tournaments.
first hole in one June 2.,2012. great day. ace finished with a 76. Had to play the next day because I was in such a groove. 2 eagles and shot a 75. hitting the ball well finally, want to get in as many rounds as possible before I lose the groove. this is goal afterall..
Been driving the ball much better lately. I dont know what Im doing different, but its working. Dont seem to be bending my wrists as much. The short game is great and the putting has been pretty good with the exception of a couple bad holes. Now. if I can only get the GIRs up. Thats the worst part of my game now. If I can improve that stat, I think I can start lowering that handicap.
went out today, not good. wind was strong, but can't blame it all on the wind.
Had great day at the course.
Marines from 1977-1981 enjoy playing golf as many times as I can a month..Only wish I had taken up this great game when I was back in high school, love the game.....
Looking for some help here. I'm headed to Daytona next month and would like some suggestions on where to play. Just send me a message. Thanks.
Hope everyone is taking advantage of all this nice weather in the South lately, it won't last as you know we have a cold March coming. Well it them well.

That is why I live in FL. The wife wants to move. No way.
I finally took the bag out of the trunk, and stuffed it under my stairs.
Today was the first snow here of the winter.
I've played close to 40 rounds this year, not too bad considering Im a seasonal golfer.
If only I had moved to Myrtle after discharge, as planned.............
Stupid plans, they never happen the way you planned them!!!
Well i went out this week and put in two rounds at Camp Zama here in japan. Now i understand the term Army greens. they are huge. its almost like you cant miss the green. and this course loves its hills on the greens make no mistake about it there are very few straight puts on this course. but none of them are sneaky there all easy to read breaks
Welcome Army Sarge good to see a new face in the group. i look forward to seeing more scores from you. good luck on the course
Well had neck surgery on August 23 and now going through the recovery part. I am going to go out tomorrow and chip and putt. Hope the game comes back...Glad to see folks posting comments. SMATOSKA Phoenix ey, Nice TPC track...Hit'em well Guys
I started playing a draw for the first time this past month and when I went to Phoenix to play at the TPC and Kierland resort it got me into so many problems. While golfing with an individual at Stonecreek, a couple of days later he told himself to slow his swing down. I thought he was talking to me so I followed his advise! Amazing! I got my straight drives back and when I draw the ball I goes significantly further! Slowing swing speed down helps tremendously!!!
It is amazing what will happen when I slow my swing speed down.
Isnt it weird? It seems like I find sooooo many different ways to make the same score.
Wow one for those days where I was draining long putts..I was hoping for a sub par round, but that will be for a latter day. Golf is on the side burner for a while..looks like I am going to have another neck surgery
Played Ironhorse in Tuscola, IL today. Shot the best round of my life, 78. very nice course. We played the first 8 holes in the rain. I hope to get the chance to play this course when it is dry.
Got in 18 yesterday. The first full round since elbow surgery back 20 April. shot a 99...much better than I thought I would do! It was 99 degress out here in the desert when we walked off the course. :)
welcome new member 0532 to the Veterans Golf Group.0532 please feel free to introduce yourself.
Just want to welcome 2 new members. Alex1964 and mrowells. Welcome to Veterans Golf Group. Please feel free to introduce your selves. Again welcome. Jimmyvig
Looks like Veterans Golf is growing by the day. I try to add folks as fast as I can, but keep them comin. I just got my updated VA rating 90 percent and they still forgot to add some vital information. WOW I retired in 08 and they still are behind the 8 ball. Hit'em well folks. I am actually going out tomorrow, 98 degree weather, going to be a Hot one in P-Cola.
Ugly Old Cowboy says:
Well got in 18 today.... Didn't do too bad. Did try and make it in two on a par 5 with a water haz.... (CAN YOU SAY KERPLUNK?????? I KNEW YOU COULD)
Played in El Paso, IL today at the El Paso Golf Club. What a pleasant surprise. This is a very nice course and reasonably priced at $38 for 18 and a cart.
Finally got to play a full round with the SGX. I initially had a lot of the same problems that everyone has been having with the SGX, however I've found Skycaddie customer support to be very helpful. The result, the SGX worked perfectly yesterday, and looking forward to getting out today!
Curious to see if anyone was stationed at Chicksand RAF in England or at Peshawar, Pakistan.
I just want to Welcome all the new folks. I have not been on much lately but I have accepted 4 or 5 new guys here while my Sub Bro was gone. JerryNJOK is that guy. So welcome aboard and Thank You for your service. I will be on more now so if anyone has questions, please feel free. Thanks again Jimmy Viglione Navy Chief retired
Good to here you had a good time Delaney. My self and my usual group here At Osan AB Korea are going to take a weekend trip up to Seoul and play the Army course up there at Song Nam we here its a really good course so i hope we have as much fun as you did were going to play a handie cap match between the 4 of us. if all goes well i should finsh second in the group one of us is scratch but dosent scare me hahahahaah.
Just got back from Fairfield Glade, TN yesterday. Any of the courses at the Glade are great to play. We were able to play The Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain on Tuesday. This is a Jack Nicklaus design and was very nice. The back nine ate me up but it was still a good time.
On Friday we played at Fall Creek Falls. I was not impressed. The course is in bad shape and desperately needs water. The fairways were patchy and brown. And in my humble opinion there is TOO MUCH SAND. Just kidding. But there are 72 bunkers and I spent a little bit of time in quite a few of them.
I played Nettle Creek in Morris, IL before I went to TN. My Sky Caddie was all kinds of messed up. It turns out that they have flipped the front and back nines from when Sky Caddie mapped the course. So if you ever play there you might have to start your scoring on 10 instead of 1.
Hello all. Thanks for accepting me into the group! I'm a Soldier currently stationed at Ft. Stewart, GA with 10 years in and 10 to go! I just ordered the SGX as an upgrade to my SG 2.5 and I'll be sure to let you guys know what's what with it.
Off to Fairfield Glade in the morning. Playing Druid Hills Monday and The Brae on Wednesday. Going to try to get on Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain on Tuesday. No matter where we play it'll be a great time.
Thanks i had a good round shooting 81 that helped the old handie cap hahahahah.
Simba, Nice shooting last week. You were the weekly club leader.
I served onboard the Simon Bolivar, SSBN 641, from 83-89 in RC div. Started playing in 86 during the yard period at PNSY. Stopped playing for about 10 years while we were having our six kids. Started back up about a year and a half ago when my wife suggested I buy a new set of clubs. Having a great time playing golf. Going to be heading to Fairfield Glade, TN next Saturday for a week of golf. Can hardly wait. Glad to have found this group.
It is the windy season in central Fl. We played Sunday and it was blowing 25 mph. You would hit hope and pray. There was no way to control the ball for me at least.
Served in the Army as a communications specialist for three years, and the WA National Gaurd for five. Played my very first roung of golf on Christmas Eve 1987 in Panama City, Panama. Been playing off and on over the years, but have been playing alot over the last three years.
On a positive note, the weather is getting better for GOLF...I am ready to tee it up, how bout you?
Oops or were Sexually harassed.
I agree. The only positive from that is they made berthing on Surface ships only for women. On subs of ALL classes making berthing arrangements for women will be a difficult task to say the least. I do remember when women were integrated on ships, IE The Yoo Yoo, 120 women were either pregnant or sexual harassment in the first 6 months. Can U imagine if they were underwater?
I was on surface combatants when they were allow to come aboard them. It was not a smooth integration. It was disruptive to all for the same reasons jimmyvig is stating. They expected a world unto themselves. They complained about the berthing and heads.
I was on SUBS for most of my career, that said I can see only one spot for them on a T Hull (Trident) is the Chiefs quarters. Now as a retired Chief I do not see that happening anytime soon. Congress has tried this launch before, so before all arms fly, lets just see what they do and how they are going to do it. Glad I am Retired fellas.
